The department of agriculture, fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has spent $45m on its user devices. The department recently selected Dell Technologies to supply an array of devices and services over the next three years. A spokesperson disclosed that after evaluating options from 13 suppliers listed on the Digital Transformation Agency’s Hardware Marketplace, Dell emerged as the chosen provider.
The move aims to ensure consistency and continuity in the department’s ICT infrastructure. However, specific details regarding the quantity of devices procured remain undisclosed.
DAFF is currently undergoing a transformation in its technology setup, shifting away from its previous collaboration with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water (DCCEEW). This transition has led to the restructuring of its ICT and digital services under the Digital Services Division (DSD).
In line with its overhaul, the department is establishing a “service catalogue” encompassing various areas such as enterprise service management, end user productivity, hybrid compute and storage, managed network services, telecommunications, and staff augmentation. Documents from last year indicate a deadline of May 2024 for the implementation of these new services.
Accenture has been appointed to manage enterprise service management services as part of this broader ICT transformation initiative.
