First CISO sought by Victoria’s ESTA

The organisation responsible for Victoria’s 000 system is recruiting a new chief information security officer (CISO).

This week, the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) posted a job listing on LinkedIn and other job search websites.

According to ESTA, the CISO will answer to Vicky Kyris, executive director of governance and strategy for the company.

The CISO will be tasked with implementing the agency’s “cyber roadmap” to strengthen its security controls as well as “managing ESTA’s two ongoing cyber and information security programmes with the support of emergency communications and information services, the office of the CEO, and other executives.”

This is a newly created post, an ESTA representative told iTnews.

The spokeswoman stated that “the CISO is a new post [formed] following a restructure in the cyber office inside the governance and strategy team.”

The company declined to go into further detail about its two ongoing security initiatives.
