The first chief information officer (CIO) position has been established by data centre builder AirTrunk, whose operations are spread across Asia Pacific and Japan.
The “inaugural” CIO will “create and execute [AirTrunk] ICT strategy and roadmap” across the area, according to founder and CEO Robin Khuda in a LinkedIn post.
In order to “create a scalable infrastructure” and “be part of the largest and most successful data centre platform in APJ (ex-China),” according to Khuda, the company was looking to hire a “ambitious CIO.”
The CIO will be responsible for “futureproofing AirTrunk’s ICT services, technology platforms, and customer solutions; leading the creation and execution of the ICT strategy; and scaling AirTrunk’s ICT competence,” according to the job description that goes with it.
The job posting states that the CIO will “head an impactful team being responsible for both ICT and OT solutions architecture, project management, data management, and service and support” in addition to having some oversight of operational technology (OT).
Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan are among the countries where AirTrunk runs hyperscale data centre facilities.
It announced plans to establish a new plant in western Tokyo and a second, sizable site in western Sydney at the end of last year.
