FFXIV Dawntrail: Yoshida Apologizes for issues

Dawntrail experienced a challenge in the opening weekend—prompting producer Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida to issue an apology. The issues faced by Dawntrail, however, differed from the server problems seen with Endwalker. Instead, they were more technical.

Yoshida began his apology by thanking everyone who participated in the early access of Dawntrail. He then expressed sincere regret for the issues. Yoshida explained the ongoing investigations to address them.

The primary concern was the Xbox version’s performance. It was reportedly froze when transitioning between zones. “We have confirmed an issue in the Xbox version where the game client may become unresponsive when transitioning between locations, such as field areas and cities,” Yoshida stated. The preliminary investigation pointed to memory fragmentation as the cause. An emergency patch is in the works. Players are advised to avoid densely populated regions. They are advised to consider playing on the Dynamis, Shadow, or Oceania data centres to mitigate the issue.

This is the most significant problem for Dawntrail currently, but not the only one. Several raids, including Dragonsong’s Reprise (Ultimate), the Minstrel’s Ballad: Shinryu’s Domain, and Delubrum Reginae (Savage), are also experiencing freezing mechanics. Yoshida noted that this issue is similar to a previously resolved problem in the Syrcus Tower alliance raid, and a patch is being expedited.

In addition, there are numerous platform-specific graphics problems following the most recent visual upgrade. Some bugs managed to get through despite the team’s best attempts to fix these problems.

The patches don’t have a deadline. Players can anticipate the introduction of patches shortly, considering the seriousness of the problems.
