The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) has embarked on a pioneering initiative aimed at bolstering the digital transformation within the aged care sector.
In a Request for Tender (RFT) announcement released in late July, the ADHA communicated its quest for a comprehensive project plan from software vendors who have demonstrated success in the second Aged Care Industry Offer. This strategic endeavor is an integral aspect of the ADHA’s overarching aged care industry enablement project.
The impetus behind this venture emanates from two pivotal recommendations stipulated by the Aged Care Royal Commission. By orchestrating the digital capture of vital health information pertaining to residents, the Aged Care Transfer Summary has the potential to revolutionize the dissemination of information during resident transitions to acute care settings, such as hospitals.
Emphasizing My Health Record Compliance
One of the agency’s foremost aspirations is to augment the roster of software products that align with the standards set by My Health Record. At the crux of this endeavor is the integration of three new clinical document types—reasons for resident transfers between facilities, comprehensive health summaries, and medication charts—into My Health Record. This integration is intended to seamlessly facilitate the transition of resident care to acute care settings, bestowing hospitals with effortless access to a patient’s comprehensive health history during their stay in the aged care facility.
In its pursuit of this transformative agenda, the ADHA is actively seeking collaborations with organizations that can contribute to the formulation of solution design documents and technical specifications. The focal points of this collaborative effort lie in refining clinical information systems and electronic medication management systems within the aged care landscape
As the Australian Digital Health Agency endeavors to infuse innovation into aged care, its integration project stands as a commendable stride towards modernizing and streamlining healthcare services for the elderly.
