MotorCycle Holdings, a prominent distributor of motorcycles in Australia, has announced a data security incident affecting consumers of two renowned brands within its portfolio. The entity, traded on the Australian Securities Exchange (PDF), revealed that an unauthorized party accessed a web server, managed by an external provider, which hosts the Sherco and Lambretta brand websites.
The company’s disclosure to the exchange highlighted that the perpetrator introduced harmful code to these sites, jeopardizing the integrity of personal customer data such as contact details and addresses. Additionally, the cybercriminal accessed a server storing customer webform submissions.
MotorCycle Holdings is proactively contacting potentially impacted customers, although no other company platforms show signs of being compromised, ensuring regular operations continue seamlessly. The breach’s impact is contained, as the compromised websites are externally hosted, safeguarding MotorCycle Holdings’ internal networks.
Previously, Sherco and Lambretta were associated with Mojo Motorcycles’ distribution network, which MotorCycle Holdings incorporated in 2022. The company operates a substantial distribution hub in Altona North, Victoria, and another significant facility in Yatala, Queensland.
