Clean Energy Regulator select Canberra-based Digital61 for IT service

The Clean Energy Regulator swaps Fujitsu for Canberra-based digital61 as an IT service provider. It will be for 8 years under a new contract worth $11.8 million. The initial three-year contract shift to a new management service will be arrange over the next eight weeks. The existing contract with Fujitsu is valued at $47.7 million. It was set up back in 2021, as it was tasked to regulate Australian carbon reduction.

Fujitsu’s contract will expire at the end of June 2022

In October 2021 CER issued a request for tender through the government’s digital marketplace to market test Fujitsu’s contract. The contract will expire at the end of June 2022. Moreover, A spokesperson said that Digital61 will provide services across three streams . That includes end-user services, ICT managed services and Security operation services.

He said, ‘’ Digital61 has been selected to deliver all three streams and will transition in during May and June 2022.’’ Digital61 won the contract beating 19 other tenders. Which CER put down to ‘’ good capability and cultural alignment with CER, its requirements, and its vision.’’

Fujitsu’s contribution to the agency over the past decade

This new contract comes after 18 months since the agency has become one of the first federal government agencies to migrate 100 per cent of its systems to Microsoft Azure. Also, it has introduced a rules engine to support and replace its legacy apps on the Azure stack.

Meanwhile, CER also shows appreciation for Fujitsu for ‘’its contribution to the agency over the past decade.’’ And thanked for its contribution to the agency.

Furthermore, the new contract is likely to bring new opportunities to IT services, and provide quality to the end-users and the agency management. The contract is at a time when IT services are close to an end. This contract is a new journey between Digital61 and The clean energy regulators.
