CDC Acquires Land for Additional Data Centre in Sydney

CDC Data Centres, a leading provider of data centre solutions, has announced plans to establish another facility in Western Sydney. The company has acquired a 17-hectare plot of land from developer Roberts Jones for $150 million.

This development follows the sale of a 24-hectare land parcel to DHL 14 months ago, which will serve as the location for four distribution centres.

Roberts Jones has named the area Burra Park and believes that CDC’s core business aligns perfectly with their vision for the site. They envision Burra Park as a state-of-the-art high-tech enterprise, logistics, and mixed-use employment precinct in the heart of the Aerotropolis.

CDC already operates a data centre in close proximity to the newly acquired land, situated in Eastern Creek. In December of last year, CDC announced a $1 billion investment to expand its operations in Eastern Creek, building upon its initial investment of $1.5 billion. The Eastern Creek site currently has a capacity of 123MW, and the planned expansion is expected to add another 108MW.

Burra Park, spanning a total of 280 hectares, is strategically located near the Western Sydney International Airport. Roberts Jones intends to develop the site to accommodate warehouses, offices, data centres, and distribution centres, creating a dynamic hub for various industries.
