Booktopia advances in its customer fulfilment centre

Booktopia is making significant progress on its South Strathfield customer fulfilment centre (CFC), with plans to open the facility in August. The online bookstore secured $12 million in funding earlier this year to develop the CFC, which will enhance distribution capabilities, support future expansion, and reduce labor costs. A recent progress video showcased the advancements made, including the installation of two automated packaging systems by CMC and Ranpak, as well as upcoming packaging technology from iPack Solutions. The CFC will also feature robots with facial expressions, selected by the Booktopia team to add personality and create a more interactive experience. The robots are currently in the testing phase and expected to be operational in August. Booktopia forecasts that the completion of the new CFC will contribute to an estimated FY24 EBITDA of $13.5 million.
