After Steve Vallas left, Blockchain Australia appointed Laura Mercurio to take the helm.
Vallas, who left in late July after serving in the position for two years and still holds the position of managing director for Blockchain APAC, is being replaced by Mercurio.
Mercurio said on LinkedIn that starting the following week, she will “take on the job of CEO of Blockchain Australia.”
I am excited to collaborate with the blockchain community and serve as the main voice to promote innovation and change for Australian businesses in the blockchain area, the author stated in her essay.
Mercurio’s appointment was made official on Wednesday by Australia’s leading national industry association, which noted that it came “at the right time as we enter a period of substantial regulatory and policy engagement that will shape the regulatory future of digital assets in Australia.”
In order to expand its membership and “influence the future of blockchain technology and digital assets,” Mercurio will lead Blockchain Australia in its “ongoing mission to be the premier voice for digital assets.”
Mercurio has a wide range of experience in business, consulting, and technological start-ups. She also serves on the board of HerTechPath, an organisation that supports the advancement of women in the IT industry.
Mercurio has worked for AMP and Global Front Room in the past. She was a senior consultant at Astellas Pharma and the head of the management consulting firm Mercurio Consulting, which is based in the UK.
