Australians Can Now Live tax-free in Bali, thanks to New Visa by Indonesian government

The Indonesian government has proposed a new visa that would allow digital nomads from Australia to live and work in the country for up to six months tax-free.

The B211A “digital nomad” visa would allow holders to live and work while travelling around Indonesia.

Indonesia’s Tourism Minister, Sandiaga Uno, proposed the visa back in June and it was passed this week.

The Indonesian government is hoping that the visa will attract more young, skilled workers to the country, and boost the country’s tourism industry after the loss of tourism during pandemic lockdowns.

Mr Uno said that he hoped “this can be one of the breakthroughs in regulations” when first discussing the visa.

“The three S used to be sun, sea, and sand but we are changing it to serenity, spirituality, and sustainability because it will have better quality and impact on the local economy,” Mr Uno told Bloomberg.

Australia is one of Indonesia’s closest neighbours, and there is already a large community of Australians living and working in Indonesia.

The new visa would make it easier for Australians to live and work in Indonesia and would allow them to experience the country’s rich culture and diverse landscape.
