Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority will conduct a cultural review following allegations that workers urinated

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) will undergo an independent review of its workplace culture due to allegations of harassment and discrimination by staff members.

Agriculture Minister Murray Watt has ordered the review after questions were raised at a recent Senate Estimates hearing in Parliament House.

During the hearing, the CEO of APVMA, Lisa Croft, was asked about any claims of sexual harassment made by staff. Croft confirmed that there was one incident reported to her but no official complaint was made and the staff member involved had resigned.

The review is aimed at restoring public trust in the agency and addressing any internal issues. A recent staff survey found that 11% of staff reported experiencing harassment and 13% reported discrimination in the workplace.

The results of the independent review must be submitted to the minister by March 31st.
