The Australian Human Rights Commission, a prominent National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) and a Commonwealth Corporate Entity, has announced plans to upgrade its IT system. The purpose of the review is to identify areas of improvement, streamline processes, and ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the Commission.
According to AHRC, its present system is inefficient and is hindering the commission’s financial sustainability due to the existence of various manual forms, disconnected systems, and processes.
In a recently published tender document, AHRC stated that the commission has an opportunity to request investment in its infrastructure systems, including hardware and software, to ensure efficient working and financial viability for the next five-to-ten years.
Though AHRC has employed some cloud-based systems, including Azure for some infrastructure and Dynamics CRM used only in one team, and Unit4 for finance and payroll operations, it still requires a comprehensive review and development plan for its IT infrastructure and systems.
AHRC is set to pay up to $150,000 to an external consulting firm to conduct an IT systems review, including outlining investment requirements for future development.
