Australia Post has welcomed Michael McNamara as its new executive general manager of digital, technology, and data. McNamara, who recently joined the organization from Digital Victoria, assumes several responsibilities previously held by Leonie Valentine, the former executive general manager of customer experience and technology. Valentine’s tenure ended in February of this year.
Valentine’s LinkedIn profile highlights her leadership of a team comprising 3000 professionals involved in various areas such as customer services, identity and financial services, digital channels, data science, product engineering, program management, BPO, and IT. She played a key role in driving Australia Post’s digital technology modernization strategy, collaborating with senior executives to develop a business-led technology roadmap aligned with the Post26 strategy.
McNamara, who formerly served as group CIO of Services Australia, joins Australia Post during a period of implementing a new operating model for its corporate support functions in line with the broader Post26 strategy. The Post26 strategy encompasses six strategic priorities, including the simplification of operations and systems, as well as the creation of market-leading digital experiences.
Although McNamara has only been with Australia Post for three days, it is anticipated that he will contribute to shaping the organization’s digital, technology, and data functions within the new operating model. Prior to his appointment, McNamara held the position of CEO at Digital Victoria, the digital arm of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, marking him as the inaugural CEO of the department’s digital division.
