The Strategic Policy Grants Program (SPGP) in Australia, aimed at supporting research on strategic issues facing the country, is now accepting applications for its 2024 round. The program, in its sixth year, provides funding totaling $3.5 million over three years to successful applicants.
SPGP’s objectives include promoting broader participation in Australia’s defense and strategic policy debates, strengthening domestic and international defense partnerships, and enhancing strategic policy advice provided by Defense.
Dr. Sheridan Kearnan, First Assistant Secretary of Strategic Policy at Defense, encouraged applications from experts in strategic and defense studies, whether new, emerging, or established.
The program seeks to encourage innovative and expansive research to address current strategic challenges and contribute to the discourse on defense policy issues. Applicants are required to submit research proposals relevant to the challenges identified in the 2023 Defense Strategic Review.
Applications will be accepted until November 3, 2023, with successful applicants notified in April 2024.
