Apple said that it would begin offering replacement parts and equipment to the general public for the first time to do their repairs on select iPhones and Mac computers. Years of public demand have resulted in Apple allowing more repair manuals and authentic components, culminating in the self-service repair program.
In 2019, Apple launched a program where independent repair businesses may purchase its components, tools, and instructions. In addition to the 5000 directly authorized service providers, Apple stated there are now 2800 independent stores in its program.
After reading a guidebook, Apple users will acquire those items directly from Apple as part of the self-service program.
Apple stated that the online shop would begin with about 200 components and tools to resolve the most frequent faults with iPhone 12 and 13 models‘ screens, batteries, and cameras. The service will soon be expanded to include Mac machines that employ M1 processors, as well as less usual fixes. Customers will be provided the same pricing on parts and tools as independent repair businesses and will be able to go back old components to Apple for a discount after completing a repair.
Apple stated that the initiative would begin in the United States early next year and spread to other nations later.
