Apple Finally Sells USB-C Charging Case for AirPods Pro

Apple, in a rare move, is now selling its new USB-C AirPods Pro charging cases separately for $159.Pair this case with an upcoming iPhone 15 Pro, rumored to be the first with USB-C, and you’re officially free from the Lightning shackles. However, this freedom comes at a cost: a hefty $100 price tag for just the case.

Apple’s penchant for proprietary ports has been a long-standing gripe, but,at least they’re finally bending the knee to the industry standard. The EU’s mandate for USB-C ports by 2024 forced their hand. iPhones with glorious USB-C and, now, this standalone charging case for your second-gen AirPods Pro.

Previously, losing your Lightning case meant shelling out for a whole new headset – a major sting. Even a “lost” case wouldn’t guarantee a USB-C upgrade. But fear not, this separate offering makes replacing your case a breeze, and at $159, it feels far less painful than the previous options.

Plus, this move sets a precedent – Apple’s never offered cases separately before. This could mean easier replacements and upgrades in the future! However, keep in mind this USB-C case only works with the second-gen Pro model.
