According to Bloomberg News, Apple is having discussions with OpenAI about generative AI technology for new features in the iPhone. The company has renewed the discussion for introducing new features in the phone later this year.
The report said that the companies are discussing integrating OpenAI features into Apple’s next iPhone operating system, iOS18. The potential agreement would benefit both companies in the future. However, the companies have not responded to any comments from news agencies.
Meanwhile, according to the reports, a month ago, Apple was in talks to license Gemini, Google chatbot for new iPhone features.
Apple is taking it’s time, and it’s quite slow in rolling out AI features. However, the company has not made a final decision on which partner it will choose for these features. Both OpenAI and Alphabet Inc’s Google are working on AI technology at a great pace. Apple could pick any provider for its iPhone AI features.
Tim Cook, Apple CEO said in February that the company is looking into generative AI and would share more about its plan to use AI technology later this year. However, the company is carefully looking into its options for new features.
