ANZ has announced it is re-merging its digital and retail divisions into one unit, as the bank gets closer to launching its customer-facing app, ANZ Plus.
ANZ Plus is a new digital banking service that contains a range of in-built financial management tools. It will now become part of the merged ANZ Retail division.
Group executive digital banking, Maile Carnegie, will take on the title of group executive Australian retail, reporting to ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott.
The bank would also divide its Australian commercial operations into a new division targeted at creating future prospects as part of the restructuring.
Elliott will lead that business while the team searches for a replacement for Mark Hand, the group executive for Australia retail and commercial banking.
Elliott stated in an ANZ Bluesnotes article that “four or five years ago, when we were looking about the future and the changing structure of banking…. that the world looked extremely different.”
We intended to bring this work together whenever it made sense, and given that our first consumer offering, ANZ Plus, is set to go online, that moment has come.”
Consumers can now sign up for the ANZ Plus banking app, which includes a range of financial management features and is set to debut in the coming months.
“ANZ Plus, which was established under the ANZx initiative,” Elliott said, “is a vital cornerstone in our digital transformation as we aim to improve the services we serve our retail customers in Australia.”
“It is a digital-led retail banking proposition focusing on our customers’ financial well-being.”
