Amazon Launches home-patrolling Robot Astro and giant Alexa Display

On September 28, Amazon launched its long-awaited Child-friendly Robot Astro. The robot dependently drives around the house, with its packed cameras and screen.

Astro can recognize objects, map your home’s layout, and check on your pets and loved ones using artificial intelligence. It has expressive animated eyes, series of cameras, and a display on its front.

The robot is unique in its features, handling video calls, recognition, and coming to find you when someone calls you. The robot has all the features of Alexa on the wheels. However, Head of Amazon’s devices and services Dave limp says, ‘’ customers don’t just want Alexa on the wheel so we’ve embodied it with a unique persona that’s all it’s own.’’

Astro is perfect security for you. It is link with the doorbell firm Ring’s protect pro service. It has features to patrol your house, investigate suspicious acts, and send alerts if detect any unrecognized person.

The home robot is design to do small tasks such as monitoring the home, set up routine reminders, play music and TV while moving around the house.

It also stops when an encounter with things like pets, or something suddenly moves in front of it. It also protects privacy through the image processor and sensor data on the device.

Tech group’s device Chief Dave limp describes it as a‘’ beautiful illustration’’ of progression in artificial intelligence.

Its periscope camera can film up to the eye height and follow users they conduct video calls.

What do experts think about Astro?

However, experts believe the major concern is privacy. Privacy advocates warn it could raise risks for consumers.

Ben Wood, Chief Analyst at CCS insight said, ‘’ Astro is a bold move by Amazon, but a logical step given its expertise in robots and desire to become more integrated into consumer’s daily lives.’’

Unlike some rivals, Amazon ‘’ is willing to bring highly experimental products to market’’ and see how users react, he added.

The robot is not permitted to go to places where the user does not allow him. It has built-in privacy features, such as ‘’out of bounds’’ and ‘’ do not disturb’’ mode limiting its movement.

Initially, it is available to a limited audience in the US, and the price is set at $999.99 and the regular price of $1, 4449.99.

Amazon’s other launches include its latest launches including MMO New world game, a smart thermostat, smart display Eco show 15, and a new health-tracking Halo view.
