A woman has been charged with accessing private data on a NSW government computer.

A woman has been charged by the NSW Police for accessing information in a government computer to aid in a crime.

The arrest was made by detectives from the state crime command robbery and serious crime squad, who were working as part of Strike Force Kkuoa since a kidnapping incident in March 2023.

The 26-year-old victim was allegedly abducted, held for ransom, and physically abused over six days. The man was eventually located at a home in Belmore, and six men were charged over the kidnapping. Ongoing investigations led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Yagoona woman, who was allegedly an employee of a state government agency and accessed personal data to aid in criminal activity. She was charged with kidnapping offenses, accessing and/or modifying restricted data in a computer, and participating in a criminal group.

The accused will appear in Burwood Local Court today, while the six men remain before the courts.
