The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is planning to replace its 11-year-old fire and incident management system with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution. This move is aimed at supporting over 1,300 firefighters and ensuring better integration with other systems, including the NSW Rural Fire Service’s Guardian hazard reduction monitoring system and the ICON bushfire response system. The SaaS solution is expected to be “mobile ready, no or low code,” and highly configurable to adapt to changing legislation, policies, procedures, and future needs.
The NPWS’s Fire and Incident Operations Branch staff will be responsible for configuring and adjusting the system, including dashboards, workflows, tasks, geoprocessing, reports, forms, and notifications. The new system will also require geospatial capabilities that can integrate with the Department of Planning and the Environment’s corporate Esri ArcGIS environment.
The project is scheduled to commence in February 2024, with implementation set to be completed in early 2025, followed by system release and training in late 2025. The new system, called Elements 2, will replace the existing Elements system, which was developed over 11 years on Noggin’s OCA platform. Notably, the tender documents specify that Elements 2 data must be solely hosted in Australia.
