Listeria Concerns Prompt Recall of Popular Camembert Cheese Brands at Woolworths

In a recent development that has sent ripples through the culinary world, two beloved Camembert cheese brands, both readily available at Woolworths stores nationwide, have been recalled due to potential listeria contamination.

The affected products are the Unicorn Classic Camembert from Snowbrand Australia, trading as Unicorn Cheese, and Community Co’s French Style Camembert. This unexpected recall serves as a stark reminder of the importance of food safety and the diligence required to safeguard consumer health.

The two cheeses, bearing Best Before dates of November 8, 2023, were on offer at Woolworths outlets located in Victoria, NSW, South Australia, and Tasmania.

Furthermore, they were also retailed at Natures Best, V & C Food Distributors, and Bills Cheese and Yoghurts in NSW, in addition to being stocked at Our United Food Co in Queensland.

The cheeses were also available at certain local stores, including IGAs in Victoria and Queensland.

In a statement, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) highlighted that Listeria can lead to illness in pregnant women, affecting both them and their unborn babies, as well as posing risks to the elderly and individuals with compromised immune systems.
