Google to Cut Jobs at Waze as Advertising System Integrates with Google Ads

Google has announced job cuts at its mapping app, Waze, as it merges the app’s advertising system with Google Ads technology. While specific details about the number of layoffs were not provided, Google aims to create a more seamless experience for Waze advertisers by transitioning to Google Ads technology.

This move is part of the consolidation process that began in December, which combines the Waze and Google Maps teams under the Google Geo division. Advertisers and partners will be notified of the transition by Google. The acquisition of Waze by Google took place in 2013 for approximately $1.3 billion.
