Three Women In Sydney Park Fined $1000 Each For Breaching Lockdown Norms

Three young women at a busy Sydney Park were given a $ 1000 penalty each for standing to chit-chat while in a busy Sydney park.

A user on TikTok by the name of @ aley.hammer posted the video on Thursday, in which an NSW police officer is seen handing over a fine slip while talking to two women with prams and young children at the Bronte park, east of Sydney.

Why?

“These mums have just been fined $1000 each and police are everywhere in Bronte, Tamarama and Bondi,” the user said in the video.

“I guess they just want us to stay indoors right now and get this lockdown over with. Stay safe everybody.”

In the pictures, there are dozens of other people – most of them in workout apparel – in the park.

Police Department Confirms The Fine

NSW police have confirmed to NCA NewsWire that three women, one 24 and 22 years old, each of whom have been fined $ 1,000 in for violation of Public Health Order by assembling together with their children at 10am.

“The women were interviewed and subsequently issued $ 1,000 PINs by being in a group of more than two people, from different addresses, in violation of the Public Health Order,” police said in a statement.

Police also fined a separate group of three women aged 39, 31 and 23 $ 1000 each for alleged violations in the same park.

“Both of these groups of women were directed to move forward, to which they complied.”

Lockdown Restrictions

Many regions of Sydney have been under stay-at-home mandates since June 26 following the positive COVID test results of dozens of residents in the region.

Strict laws and restrictions remain in place in Greater Sydney, including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharour.

The closure was extended to August 28 as the state daily number of new Covid-19 cases continued to be on the rise.

Increased Surveillance

NSW police have increased their security measures and surveillance of Greater Sydney with the aim of reducing the growing number of daily cases.

Police officers have also been deployed on popular beaches east of the city as thousands of people continue to go there even during the closure.

NSW has set a new record for the highest number of cases per day, reporting 390 cases on Friday.
