Darwin subsea cable connection completed by Vocus

Vocus has announced that the $100m Darwin cable system, which is set to connect the Australian city with Jakarta and Singapore, has moved one step closer to completion. The 1,000km section that links the North-West Cable System in Darwin to the Australia-Singapore Cable, which runs from Perth to Singapore, has been finished, with the cable ship Ile De Re lifting the Australia-Singapore Cable from a depth of 5km to splice it to the new cable. Final testing will now be carried out, with the new international link expected to be put into service in mid-2023.
