Capgemini signs iCare for a $38 million claims system

Capgemini has secured a $38 million contract from iCare, a workers’ compensation insurer in NSW, Australia. The contract involves implementing Guidewire Software’s cloud-based system, with Amazon Web Services acting as a subcontractor.

The system will support iCare’s Home Building Compensation Fund, covering claims, policy, and billing. The previous system had reached its end-of-life and was already operating under extended warranty.

However, iCare has been criticized in the past over previous Capgemini procurements, such as the $260 million claims and billing platform, which reportedly had a predetermined outcome due to an unreasonably short tender period. The new HBCF tender ran from December 2021 to February 2022 and covers the period from February 2023 to February 2031.
