Latitude Financial has revealed that it is facing a larger scale of information theft than what was initially disclosed after a recent cyber attack.
The company admitted on March 16 that it had fallen victim to a cyber attack, and this week it stated that it was unable to contain the incident, which could result in further impact.
Although the exact extent of the additional impact is yet to be determined, the company has warned that it could be significant.
Latitude Financial is still investigating the matter and is working to identify the number of affected customers and the type of information stolen. Driver’s licenses are among the identifying documents that have been stolen.
The company has apologized for the escalation of the incident and promised to provide further updates as soon as it has more information.
It has pledged to contact all additional customers and applicants affected by the attack.
Latitude Financial is currently focusing on containing the attack, conducting a forensic review of the attacker’s actions and gradually restoring operational capability over the next few days.
