Domino’s Pizza Enterprises invests more than $23 million in digital marketing

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises invested more than $23 million in digital capex and back-of-house systems upgrades in the second half of 2022.

The company’s new generation mobile app, which delivered a record proportion of online sales, was among the upgrades. A wallet app also allowed users to save app-only specials. Sustainability is also part of Domino’s digital strategy, with a focus on data quality and measurement to help target environmental, social and governance actions.

Sales were slightly down on the first half of 2022, with in-store sales falling 4% to $1.97 billion and online sales declining 4.5% to $1.53 billion. The company attributed the fall in online sales to a shift in consumer behavior from delivery to carry-out, as well as a decline in sales through aggregator platforms.

Domino’s said its digital tools were allowing it to respond better to inflation, with the company rolling out an internal price model and tool that enables it to respond more quickly to inflationary inputs such as produce.
