Group of Gamers sue to block Microsoft activision deal and is hit by another hurdle. A group of 10 gamers filed a case against Microsoft to stop buying Activision Blizzard. The lawsuit is filed in San Francisco federal antitrust. In the file, the new suit is named Microsoft, not Activision as a defendant.
The gamers have raised concerns that the merger would give Microsoft more power over rivals, reduce consumer choice, raise prices and inhibit competition. The suit says, ‘’ Microsoft already controls one of the industry’s most popular and largest video game ecosystems. The proposed acquisition would give Microsoft an unrivaled position in the gaming industry, leaving it with the greatest number of must-have games and iconic franchises.’’
The deal expand competition and create more opportunities for gamers
Microsoft president Brad Smith said the company had “complete confidence in our case and welcome the opportunity to present our case in court”.Moreover Microsoft spokesperson defend the transaction saying’’ This deal will expand competition and create more opportunities for gamers and game developers as we seek to bring more games to more people.’’
