Twitter has relaunched its blue tick subscription with a higher price for Apple users. According to reports, If you subscribe from iOS, you will pay $11 per month. Whereas, users of android can subscribe through the web paying $8 per month.
Elon Musk, Twitter’s owner previously had mentioned charging $8 a month for the new version of the Twitter blue tick. But didn’t talk about the higher price if purchased through its app on the apple store.
Apple had threatened to remove Twitter from its App Store
Musk recently criticized Apple for pausing advertisements on Twitter. Twitter’s owner also accused Apple of threatening to remove Twitter from its App store. However, things changed after Elon Musk and Tim Cook had a meeting.
Musk Tweeted,’’ Good conversation. Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so.’’
The Tesla owner is not a big fan of Apple’s other fees. He says Apple charges ‘’secret tax’’ from users through its store. He once tweeted saying,’’ Did you know Apple puts a secret 30% tax on everything you buy through their App Store? ‘’
Blue tick Service Availability
According to the official website, the blue tick service is currently available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK with plans to expand to other countries.
Twitter also said that Subscribers who attempt to change their handle, display name or photo will temporarily lose their tick until the account is reviewed again.
Musk is clear about the future of Twitter, and he is looking forward to being less dependent on advertising. Currently, 90% of its 5.1bn revenue comes from advertisements. Due to recent changes, an outbreak of ‘’verified’’ imposter accounts led advertisers to withdraw from the platform. It led to a massive drop in Twitter’s revenue.
Elon Musk is introducing new methods to generate revenue including a subscription fee for blue tick.
