The SSKB strata management company in Gold Coast is the most recent business to experience a ransomware attack.
A third party “gained unauthorised access to SSKB’s IT environment, downloaded some information, and posted a ransom demand on the dark web,” according to CEO Daniel Herbert, who made the announcement Friday night.
SSKB reported that it had contacted an outside forensics firm and alerted the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACC) and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) to the situation (ACSC).
“We are working quickly to identify whether the dataset that was downloaded contains any personal or sensitive information, “Herbert added a note to the alert.
“If we find that this is the case, we will do all in our power to fulfil our commitments and alert anyone who may be in danger.
Since the beginning of September, a number of data breaches have occurred in Australia.
Optus, MyDeal, a deals website operated by Woolworths, Medibank, and Medlab Pathology are high-profile targets that have been attacked during that time or have acknowledged attacks.
