Facebook parent company Meta has released BlenderBot 3 which can have sophisticated conversations on any topic. Facebook says, it can ‘’ search the internet to talk about nearly any topic’’. It has made progress in conversational skills combining empathy, personality, and knowledge. Furthermore, it incorporates long-term memory and searches the internet for timely information leading to meaningful conversations. BlenderBot 3 uses artificial intelligence to have conversations with people.
It is publicly available and improves its skills over time. The feature is built on top of Meta’s OPT-175B language model. It is a white-label version of the more known GPT-3 AI. It is designed to improve itself through feedback previously. However, now the language model like OPT-175B is fairly static. The company says, ‘’ Initial experiments already show that as more people interact with the model, the more it learns from its experiences and the better and safer it becomes over time. The firm added, “though safety remains an open problem.”
My eyebrows raised slightly at the sample conversation
One of the users expressed views and said, my eyebrows raised slightly at the sample conversation it had chosen to illustrate. When asked what it’s doing? BlenderBot says, ‘’ I’ve been working on my new book all night’’. It claims the book is its ninth, with previous novels ‘’ a modern retelling of pride and prejudice.’’
Many believe that it’s tricky to ask AI to tell the truth. As in the month of June, Google’s LaMDA appears to make the correct assumption. Upon asking what it did at the weekend, the machine assumes that you want to engage in light role-play, rather than stick to the facts. Similarly, BlenderBot 3 conversation is based on artificial intelligence that is difficult to predict. But at the same time, it’s quite fun.
