Here we sit down with Peter, to know a bit more about his journey as a digital marketer.

Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Peter: Since a very young age, I’ve always been interested in anything technical, digital, or marketing-related. I’ve always had an entrepreneur mindset and have formulated many ideas and projects, only to be too hesitant to act.

Over my 20 years in the industry, I’d become too comfortable with the daily grind but with COVID-19, my children, and a desire to truly help businesses as inspiration, I decided to work on Webrr.Digital full-time.

Q. How did you get started?

Peter: As a Freelancer, where there was no conflict of interest, I had been doing digital marketing, web design, and website development projects as a side hustle to my full-time roles since 2013. When I decided to go full time and focus all my energy on Webrr.Digital, I just went with it, no overthinking it!

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?

Peter: The unique position we’re in as an agency, where your one point of contact looks after most, if not all, facets of your marketing meant that finding the talent who had the skills and expertise to align with our goals was extremely difficult. We just learned to slow down, have patience, and not to rush our expansion. Our agency, its values, and our clients are more important than trying to grow too quickly. I’ve seen this before with many startups where their first 10 clients are great but then they grow to 100 clients in a flash and the service and quality drop dramatically. We don’t want to be one of those businesses!

Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?

Peter: There have been so many memorable moments since we’ve started, it’s hard to nail it down to one most memorable thing.

From witnessing the growth and impact of our agency on our clients/partners and their business to winning the trust of partners over larger agencies. It’s a feeling that you’re making a difference.

Another recent example is our industry/sector exclusive agreements, which was borne out of a request of one client who loved working with us and had decided to put huge trust in our agency. The fact this client has worked with some of the biggest names in agency land means a lot to our business and we now offer this agreement to all clients we deem suitable.

Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?

Peter: To be honest, I don’t read any books unless it is related to the work our agency offers.

Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?

  • Search Engine Journal – one of my favorite resources for keeping up to date with anything to do with Search Engine Marketing or Search Engine Optimisation.
  • Facebook – Not just the app itself but also their advertising tools such as Facebook Ad Library. As an agency which offers social media marketing, I think it’s important to keep abreast of anything happening on the platform but also what others are doing from an advertising perspective. It is a great spot for ideas on what to do and NOT to do.
  • SERanking – This little known tool is a personal favorite of mine, it’s easy to use, comprehensive and always improving. Compared to much more expensive tools, this provides value, excellent support and top functionality.

Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?

Peter: What I want more than anything is to know that I’ve made a difference in the lives of others. My clients, their families, and their businesses.

Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Peter: Don’t overthink it, give it ago, take one step at a time and overcome the obstacles with patience and find the right support if required.
