Following the retirement of its former IT head, Ticketek’s parent company, TEG, has chosen a new chief technology officer from inside.
Last month, Tane Oakes was elevated from an enterprise architect to CTO, making him the third CTO to take the helm in three years.
According to LinkedIn, former CTO Cameron Stone departed TEG last month to become the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s new chief data and technology officer. Stone joined TEG from Virgin Australia in January 2021, succeeding Greg Willis, who departed in November 2020 to become the head of startup solutions architecture at Amazon Web Services.
Oakes joins the organization as CTO with nine years of expertise, including seven years as an enterprise architect and two years as a solutions architect.
Over the years, he has worked with software partners such as AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and MongoDB to revolutionize the user experience for live events. TEG said.
Before joining TEG, Oakes worked for the UK retail television channel QVC for 11 years, first as a senior software engineer and later as a corporate solutions architect. Geoff Jones, CEO of TEG Group, praised Oakes, whom he characterized as a “dynamic and brilliant leader.”
“Tane has been the lynchpin of TEG and Ticketek’s IT transformation over the last decade as we grew our footprint into 30 countries worldwide,” Jones added.
“We are delighted that he is taking on this vital job as live entertainment and TEG prepare to roar back in 2022 and we continue our expansion into new countries.”
Oakes, who will report to COO Ian Ball, stated that he is “honoured” to be appointed CTO as the firm continues to “invest in technology to offer customer-centric innovation.”
He went on to say that he was “ecstatic to be able to provide other young IT professionals their own career-enhancing chances for personal and professional advancement.”
