3D Culinary Revolution: Print Your Food

3D food printing technologies will offer revolutionary new options for the food industry. Engineers are constantly experimenting with new recipes to create 3D food products. The revolution will bring more convenience and customization to the industry.

Columbia University engineers reported about their first trial on Cheesecake. The experiment focuses on turning cartridges of food paste and powder into edible food through 3D printing. Jonathan Blutinger, one of the engineers said, ‘’ The cheesecake is the best thing we can showcase right now, but the printer can do a whole lot more.

He adds, “ we can print chicken, beef, vegetables and cheese. Anything that can be turned into a paste, Liquid or powder.”

The researcher believes it would be your digital chef in the future. They have a vision for a food printer mixed with a laser cooker that can be a one-stop shop sort of kitchen appliance.

The researchers have published a journal on 3D technology that can construct edible products using different ingredients. For the cheesecake experiment, it took 30 minutes to squirt out. The ingredients for the cheesecake include biscuit paste, peanut butter, strawberry jam, Nutella, Banana puree, cherry Drizzle and frosting as well. Meanwhile, the printer is armed with a blue laser to cook layers if needed.

The researchers failed 5 times and finally hit on the right slight shape. Blutinger said, ‘’ It tasted like something I hadn’t tried before. I rather enjoyed it. Though, it’s not a conventional mix. We’re not Michelin Chefs. “

3D printers are considered the next step in automation. It will replace people from the food preparation process. The researchers believe it will also help track calories and nutrients. We will create new designs for food that people can share as digital files on social media platforms.
