Due to a problematic vendor software upgrade, Microsoft’s Teams collaboration suite experienced a two-and-a-half hour global outage on Thursday.

Users of Teams in Australia, New Zealand, and the majority of Asean nations reported issues.

At 2.15pm AEST, it seemed to be resolved. 

Microsoft cited “a recent deployment [that] featured a broken link to an internal storage service” as the cause of the outage.

Users who were affected were unable to “start texting, calling, and meetings” or use Teams.

On Thursday, Microsoft’s Teams collaboration platform went out globally for two and a half hours as a result of a botched vendor software upgrade.

Issues were reported by Teams users in Australia, New Zealand, and the majority of Asean countries.

It appeared to be resolved about 2.15 p.m. AEST.

Microsoft attributed the outage to “a recent deployment [that] featured a faulty link to an internal storage service.”

Affected users were unable to use Teams or “start texting, calling, and meetings.”
